Memories

"Sometimes you never knew the true value of a moment, until it becomes memory",a famous quote which we frequently use. Scientifically memory means remembrance of past experience or information by using certain mental faculties. These experiences and information are filtered by our brain primarily by the hippocampus.

Memories are the  reminisce of the past engraved in our mind. Some memories fill out heart with exuberance and some with gloom. Indeed memories could be easily grouped into happy and sad entangling us in the web of duality.

Anything that seems to have travelled with the time, is bound to be an illusion leave alone memories.

Memories are the baggage of the past and certainly do not exist in the real world. But it definitely wrecks our present moment and comes in the path of self liberation.
Mind is the biggest trickster, it illudes us to believe in Maya, taking us farther from the Self. The distinct and the subtle conspiracies of mind will keep us glued to memories both so called good or bad, letting us believe that is not. Indeed all memories are a cause of suffering and drains away the blissful aware moments.
Life is real and is experienced in present, not as yesterday or tomorrow. The highest form of awareness can appear only in the present moment. Nothing else matters, nothing else exists.

Unfortunately, we have ceased to exist in present moment as a race and it is the root cause of our sufferings. Look at any other creature of His, a flower for example, it blooms and blossoms and produces the sweetest nectar despite the fact the bee will take away it's nectar and plays it's part in the cycle of life. The flower for a minute never doubts the other creatures and blooms to the zenith of its beauty. Because the very moment when it blooms and radiates its beauty and spreads the fragrance, it exists in its complete self.
But we as humans are so used to being sad that we forget to exist as our true self even for a moment. The mind will always play games, it will erode us of our happiness and cling us to the past in the form of memories taking away our precious today...
As rightly put by Raman Maharishi" Eventually what one has learnt, will have to be forgotten."
